UXtutkimus, or User Experience research, is a broad field focused on understanding users' needs, behaviors, and motivations in relation to a product, service, or system. The primary goal of UX research is to inform design decisions and ensure that the final product is usable, useful, and enjoyable for its intended audience. This research is conducted throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept to post-launch evaluation.

Methods used in UX research can be broadly categorized into qualitative and quantitative approaches. Qualitative methods, such as user interviews, usability testing, and ethnographic studies, aim to gather in-depth insights into user attitudes and experiences. They help uncover the "why" behind user actions. Quantitative methods, like surveys, analytics, and A/B testing, focus on collecting measurable data to identify patterns and validate hypotheses. These methods provide statistical evidence and help understand "how many" or "how often."

The findings from UX research directly influence design choices, leading to more intuitive interfaces, efficient workflows, and ultimately, higher user satisfaction. By placing the user at the center of the design process, UX research helps organizations create products that resonate with their target market and achieve their business objectives. It is an iterative process, meaning that research is often revisited and refined as the product evolves.
