Túlzás

Túlzás is a Hungarian noun meaning exaggeration or overstatement. It describes language or behavior that surpasses factual accuracy or proportionality. The term derives from túl, meaning over or beyond, with the noun-forming suffix -zás. In usage, túlzás can refer to both everyday talk and more deliberate rhetorical effect.

In rhetoric and literature, túlzás functions as a form of hyperbole, chosen to add emphasis, humor, or dramatic impact. It appears in poetry, fiction, journalism, and daily speech. In humorous or satirical contexts, túlzás is common and expected; in serious discourse, excessive or implausible exaggeration can undermine credibility.

Examples include describing a minor delay as a catastrophe of biblical proportions or claiming that a product will change one’s life in a single day.
