The Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal, officially known as the International Military Tribunal for the Far East (IMTFE), was convened following the end of World War II to prosecute leaders of the Empire of Japan for war crimes. The trials took place in Tokyo from May 3, 1946, to November 12, 1948. The tribunal was established by the Allied powers, under the command of General Douglas MacArthur, and was modeled after the Nuremberg Trials held in Europe.
