Tændrørsindsprøjtning

Tændrørsindsprøjtning, often translated as spark plug injection or glow plug injection depending on the context, refers to a system in internal combustion engines that injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber at a precise moment, often synchronized with the ignition system. This method differs from traditional port injection where fuel is introduced into the intake manifold. The primary goal of tændrørsindsprøjtning is to achieve more efficient combustion, leading to improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.

In gasoline engines, this technology is known as Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI). The fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder, allowing for a more homogeneous mixture of fuel and air, and enabling higher compression ratios. This can result in increased power output and better performance. The timing and amount of fuel injected are meticulously controlled by the engine's electronic control unit (ECU).

In some diesel engines, a similar principle is applied, though often without a spark plug in the traditional sense. Instead, the high compression in diesel engines ignites the fuel. However, the term tændrørsindsprøjtning might also be used to describe systems where a glow plug assists in the initial ignition, particularly in cold weather, and fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber. The precision of the injection is crucial for optimizing the combustion process and meeting stringent emissions standards. The development of tændrørsindsprøjtning has been a significant advancement in engine technology, allowing for cleaner and more potent internal combustion engines.
