Täysjarrutus

Täysjarrutus is a Finnish term that translates to "full braking" or "emergency braking." It refers to the act of applying the brakes with maximum force, typically in a situation where a sudden stop is required to avoid an accident or hazard. This can involve slamming on the brakes in a vehicle or applying a similar rapid deceleration mechanism in other contexts.

In the context of road vehicles, täysjarrutus usually triggers the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) if equipped. ABS prevents the wheels from locking up during heavy braking, allowing the driver to maintain some steering control and reducing the stopping distance on many surfaces. Without ABS, a full brake application could lead to wheel lock-up, resulting in skidding and loss of directional control.

The effectiveness of täysjarrutus depends on various factors, including the vehicle's condition, tire tread and pressure, road surface condition (e.g., wet, dry, icy), and the driver's reaction time.
