Tähtajalises, also known as the "Star Festival," is an annual cultural event held in Estonia, primarily in the town of Tartu. The festival celebrates the rich traditions of Estonian folk culture, particularly focusing on the themes of stars, nature, and the cosmos. It is deeply rooted in the Estonian New Year’s traditions, which often incorporate celestial elements.

The origins of Tähtajalises can be traced back to ancient pagan beliefs, where the winter solstice was marked by rituals to honor the sun’s return. Over time, these customs blended with Christian influences, particularly during the 17th and 18th centuries, when the festival became associated with the Feast of St. John the Baptist. Today, it is celebrated on the evening of June 23rd, coinciding with the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.
