Tâmiba

Tâmiba is a village in the Farafra Oasis of the New Valley Governorate in Egypt's Western Desert.

The village is located about 97 kilometers (60 miles) southwest of the city of Marsa Matruh, the capital of the Matruh Governorate, at a height of approximately 18 meters (59 feet) below sea level.

Tâmiba has a small community, and the residents of the village primarily rely on agriculture for their livelihood. The main crops grown in the region are dates, wheat, and other types of fruits and vegetables. Livestock, particularly goats and sheep, are also raised for food and other essential products.

The Farafra Oasis where Tâmiba is situated is known for its unique Liben Hills Formation. This geological formation dates back to the early Neolithic period, around 4000-3500 BCE, and is characterized by a distinctive red-­rock outcropping. The formation is home to a variety of prehistoric archaeological sites, including campsites, wells, and tombs.

In terms of tourism, Tâmiba does not appear to be a major destination. However, the nearby village of El Gantuf has a small number of lodgings and restaurants catering to travelers. Tâmiba is an isolated village in a vast desert region and has limited connectivity with the rest of the country. The primary mode of transportation to the village is by private car or public transport, the local residents mostly using Egyptian vehicles.
