Työympäristöarviointi

Työympäristöarviointi, or workplace assessment, is a systematic process of identifying and evaluating potential hazards and risks within a work environment. The primary goal of this assessment is to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of employees. It involves examining various aspects of the workplace, including physical conditions, psychosocial factors, and organizational practices.

The process typically begins with hazard identification, where potential sources of harm are cataloged. This can include physical hazards like slippery floors, exposure to chemicals, or faulty machinery, as well as psychosocial hazards such as excessive workload, bullying, or lack of support. Once identified, these hazards are then assessed to determine the level of risk they pose. Risk assessment considers the likelihood of an incident occurring and the potential severity of its consequences.

Following the assessment, control measures are developed and implemented to eliminate or minimize the identified risks. These measures can range from engineering controls, such as installing safety guards on equipment, to administrative controls, like implementing new work procedures or providing training. Personal protective equipment may also be recommended as a last resort.
