Työpöytäsuiteja, also known as desktop suites, are collections of productivity applications designed to run on a personal computer's operating system. The primary goal of a desktop suite is to provide users with the essential tools for common office and personal tasks, allowing for seamless integration and data exchange between its various components.

The concept of a desktop suite gained prominence with the rise of personal computing in the 1980s and 1990s. Early suites often offered bundled software, but the idea of a tightly integrated set of applications became a strong selling point. This integration allows users to, for example, easily embed charts created in a spreadsheet program into a document created by the word processor, or to use data from a spreadsheet within a mail merge function.

Prominent examples of desktop suites include Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, and Apple's iWork. These suites vary in their feature sets, licensing models, and operating system compatibility. While proprietary suites like Microsoft Office often come with a purchase cost or subscription, open-source alternatives like LibreOffice are typically free to download and use. The choice of a desktop suite often depends on individual needs, budget, and the user's preferred operating system. In recent years, cloud-based alternatives that offer similar functionality have also emerged, providing access to applications and documents over the internet.
