History: The settlement dates from the 11th century, growing as a milling and market outpost for nearby estates. The arrival of a railway in the 1870s spurred growth and population, but passenger services ended in the mid-20th century and the line was downgraded to freight. In recent decades Tybrem has diversified into agriculture, small manufacturing, and tourism.

Economy: The local economy centers on dairy farming, crop production, and small-scale manufacturing, including timber crafts and food producers. Local markets attract visitors during harvest and festival periods.

Transport and access: The town is connected by roads to the regional town 12–15 km away. A limited bus service serves residents; the old railway corridor is now a walking and cycling route.
