Tuuletimet

Tuuletimet are devices designed to move air in order to provide ventilation, cooling, or exhaust. They are widely used in buildings, appliances, and various industrial processes. A typical tuuletin consists of a housing, an impeller or blade wheel, a motor, and mounting and electrical connections. When the motor turns the blades, air is driven through ducts or into living or working spaces.

Most tuulettimet can be classified as axial fans, where air flows parallel to the axis of rotation, or centrifugal (radial) fans, where air is drawn in and expelled at a right angle to the axis. In buildings, common forms include inline fans, ceiling fans, and exhaust fans, while smaller versions are used in electronics, appliances, and machinery to provide component cooling or process ventilation.

Applications span residential, commercial, and industrial settings. In homes, tuulettimet support heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, kitchen range hoods, and bathroom vents. In industry, they enable airflow in manufacturing lines, data centers, and climate-controlled spaces, as well as cooling for equipment and processes.

Performance is typically described by the airflow rate and the amount of resistance the air must overcome, often expressed as cubic meters per hour and static pressure. Efficiency depends on motor type, blade design, and how well the fan is integrated with the surrounding ductwork or enclosure. Standards and regulations concerning energy use and safety influence selection, labeling, and installation in many markets.

Maintenance involves regular cleaning to remove dust, inspecting for unusual noise or vibration, and checking electrical connections. Replacing worn bearings or seals as needed and ensuring guards or housings are intact are common safety practices.
