Tusentimmaresmaud

Tusentimmaresmaud is a traditional Norwegian folk dance style originating from the Østerdalen region of Eastern Norway. The name "Tusentimmaresmaud" literally translates to "Thousands of miles to the crowd" or "A crowded thousand miles away", which refers to the dance's characteristic lively and energetic nature.

The dance is characterized by its fast-paced footwork, intricate hand movements, and dynamic formations. It is typically performed by two rows of dancers, each consisting of eight to twelve participants. The dancers execute a series of complex steps, including quick footwork, turns, and leaps, often in unison with their partners.

Musically, Tusentimmaresmaud is typically performed to lively polka rhythms, with an emphasis on brass instruments, particularly the klarinett and the trumpet. The music is often played on traditional Norwegian instruments, such as the Hardingfele, a type of fiddle.
