Turieky

Turieky is a village and municipality in the central region of Veridia, serving as the administrative center of Turieky Municipality within the Veridia Central District. It lies on the Turie River, about 28 kilometers northeast of the national capital, and covers roughly 9 square kilometers. As of 2022, the population is estimated at 1,420 people. The landscape is a mix of farmland and woodland, with a temperate climate and gentle slopes.

Turieky is first mentioned in historical records in the 14th century, and over the centuries developed around agriculture and a crossroads that connected regional trade routes. The arrival of the railway in the early 20th century spurred modest growth, and the village today relies on farming, small-scale manufacturing, and local services. Common crops include grains and potatoes; dairy farming is also present.

Administratively, Turieky has a village council and a mayor, and it is the seat of Turieky Municipality. Public services include a primary school, a health clinic, a library, and a community center. The region is served by regional roads; the nearest railway station is in a neighboring town about 12–15 kilometers away.

Notable sites include the Church of St. Martin, built in the early 19th century, and the Turieky Windmill, a late 18th-century monument preserved as a cultural landmark. The annual harvest festival and local folk traditions reflect the village's agricultural heritage. Veridian is the predominant language and culture, with most residents identifying as Veridian.
