Turbulentsi

Turbulentsi is a term used to describe the chaotic, irregular motion of fluids that characterizes turbulence. It refers to flows in which velocity and pressure fluctuate in time and space, producing vigorous mixing and enhanced momentum transport.

Common features include a wide range of interacting spatial scales, from large energy-containing eddies to small dissipative motions; the flow is highly sensitive to initial conditions; and mean properties are often described statistically rather than deterministically.

In physics, turbulence emerges when inertial forces dominate viscous forces, typically at high Reynolds numbers. The Navier-Stokes equations govern the motion, but exact solutions are uncommon; turbulence is often analyzed via energy spectra and the Kolmogorov 1941 framework, which describes an inertial subrange with E(k) ~ C ε^(2/3) k^(-5/3).

Modeling and simulation methods include direct numerical simulation (DNS), which resolves all scales but is computationally expensive; large-eddy simulation (LES), which models small scales; and Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) for engineering use.

Turbulent flows appear in many contexts: atmospheric and oceanic dynamics, aeronautical design, combustion, industrial mixing. They influence heat transfer, drag, noise, and pollutant dispersion.
