Tuoksupaneelit

Tuoksupaneelit are a type of architectural control used in buildings, particularly in Scandinavian countries such as Finland, Sweden, and Norway. The term "tuoksupaneeli" is Finnish for "scent panel" or "odor panel," although it actually refers to a ventilation system component that regulates airflow.

In most buildings, tuoksupaneelit, or scent panels, are installed near the air intake vents in order to control airflow direction. They are designed to optimize system performance by reducing air loss and improving air volume balance. These panels come in different designs, such as radial and mixed-flow types.

A properly functioning tuoksupaneeli regulates the flow of outside air into the building's ventilation system. This helps to prevent cross-contamination of inside air. Its main applications include controlling the inflow of contaminants, moisture, and varying temperatures. Tuoksupaneelit can also protect against extreme weather conditions, helping to regulate and maintain a stable indoor air quality.

Control by emission (CBE) controls have largely replaced tuoksupaneelit, as their function is relatively obsolete. In buildings, building management systems can offer a range of benefits, such as limitless integration and remote accessibility. However, in smaller buildings, specifically those prone to moisture, tuoksupaneelit still offer practical applications for HVAC applications.

Tuoksupaneelit are typically little complex and high maintenance, and usually require skilled engineers to install, monitor, and maintain. It is common for them to be used together with sensors and/or diffusers, which work in conjunction to optimize the functional properties of the ventilation system.
