Tulostusjono

Tulostusjono, often referred to as a print queue, is a temporary storage area where print jobs are held before they are sent to a printer. When a user sends a document to print, the operating system or print spooler software places it into this queue. This allows multiple users or applications to send print jobs simultaneously without the printer needing to process them all at once. The printer then retrieves jobs from the queue one by one, in the order they were received, or based on priority settings.

The print spooler manages the tulostusjono. It handles tasks such as receiving print data, formatting it for the specific printer, and sending it to the printer device. If the printer is busy or offline, the spooler will continue to hold the jobs in the queue until the printer becomes available. Users can often interact with the tulostusjono through a dedicated interface. This allows them to view the status of their print jobs, cancel pending prints, or sometimes rearrange the order of jobs. If a print job is not progressing, the spooler can be restarted to clear the queue and attempt to resend the jobs. This mechanism prevents data loss and ensures efficient use of printer resources.
