Tslotsnuts

T-slot nuts are fastening devices designed for use with T-slots in aluminum extrusion profiles. They slide into the slot from the end or along the length and provide a threaded hole for bolts to clamp workpieces, brackets, or fixtures to the profile. They are a key component in modular framing systems used in machine shops and fabrication environments.

Most common T-slot nuts have a curved base that fits the slot and a captive threaded bore. They can be inserted from the end of the extrusion and rotated to engage the slot lips. Several variants exist, including sliding (drop-in) nuts, fixed nuts, and locking nuts with nylon inserts to resist loosening under vibration.

Sizes and materials vary. Threads are typically metric (M4, M5, M6) or imperial (1/4-20, 5/16-18). Materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, and finishes such as zinc plating or black oxide. High-load applications may use hardened steel or reinforced designs.

Installation is straightforward: slide the nut into the slot, align it, and thread a bolt into the nut from above. To prevent rotation or loosening, locking nuts or thread-locking compounds may be used, especially in dynamic or vibration-prone assemblies.

Compared with drilling and tapping extrusions, T-slot nuts offer rapid, adjustable mounting and reconfigurability, but require compatible profiles and careful selection for load, size, and locking requirements. They are widely used in CNC workcells, fixtures, and adjustable mounting solutions within modular framing systems.
