Troenja is a fictional cultural practice described in speculative fiction and worldbuilding contexts as a ritual of communal memory and moral education. Within these narratives, troenja functions as a formal method by which a community rehearses its values, myths, and social norms through orchestrated performance, speech, and gesture. There is no real-world equivalent.

Etymology and origins in the fictional sources vary. Some interpretations trace troenja to proto-lexemes meaning “to bind” or “to remember,” while others emphasize a triadic structure implied by the name, suggesting three core segments that recur in each ceremony. In several settings, troenja emerges among highland or coastal cultures separated by centuries of exchange, evolving through local adaptations.

Practice typically centers on a scheduled gathering in a ceremonial space called the hall of echoes. A designated leader, often referred to as the Mnemonist, guides the performance.
