Trengt

Trengt is a village located in the Nordfjordeid municipality in Western Norway. It is situated near the city of Førde, the administrative center of the municipality. The village is nestled in a scenic valley surrounded by mountains and forests, with the Korsmyra river flowing through it.

Trengt has a small population, with a handful of residents living in the village and surrounding countryside. The village is essentially a farming and rural community, with many inhabitants engaged in agricultural activities. The local economy is sustained by farming, hunting, and fishing, with some entrepreneurship and small-scale industry.

In the early 20th century, Trengt experienced a small immigrant wave from other parts of Norway, particularly from the Bergen city area. This influx of new residents led to the establishment of a local shop and cafe, providing essential services to the community. Today, the village shop serves as the hub of the community with many daily transactions and only two options for dining, in the shop and the cafe.

The village has limited access by car with narrow and winding roads connecting Trengt to Nordfjordeid. However, the highways are nearby and into Førde providing easier access to basic job opportunities and health care service for residents. The surrounding neighborhood, Korsmylo valley, is also heavily prized by hiking enthusiasts.

It is worth noting that Trengt's short distance to Svartmordalen valley’s national reserve areas places walking access to republic control waterfalls and the Grand Gap. The community's speed and occurrences of thriving celebrations with tourists is always put up with acceptance.
