Transcatheterale

Transcatheterale is a term derived from medical terminology, specifically referring to procedures performed using a catheter inserted through a blood vessel. The "transcatheter" aspect indicates that a treatment or intervention is delivered via a catheter. This approach is minimally invasive, meaning it avoids the need for large surgical incisions. Instead, a thin, flexible tube called a catheter is guided through a small puncture in a blood vessel, usually in the arm or groin, to reach a specific target site within the body.

Once the catheter is in position, various devices or therapeutic agents can be delivered through it. This allows for treatments of conditions affecting the heart, blood vessels, and other organs without the extensive trauma associated with open surgery. Examples of transcatheterale procedures include transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), where a new valve is placed in the heart, and transcatheter embolization, used to block off abnormal blood vessels. The development of transcatheterale techniques has significantly advanced interventional cardiology and radiology, offering less risky and faster recovery options for many patients.
