The primary goal of transaktiomallit is to ensure data integrity and consistency during operations that involve multiple steps or data updates.

One common model is the "monolithic" approach, where all functionalities are tightly integrated within a single codebase or system. While simpler to develop initially, this can lead to challenges in scalability and maintenance as the system grows. Changes to one part of the system can have unintended consequences elsewhere.

In contrast, "microservices" architecture breaks down an application into small, independent services, each responsible for a specific business capability. Transactions are managed by coordinating these services, often through event-driven communication or sagas. This promotes flexibility, scalability, and resilience, as individual services can be updated or replaced without affecting the entire system.

Another aspect of transaktiomallit relates to how data is updated. "Optimistic concurrency control" assumes that conflicts are rare and only checks for conflicts when committing a transaction. If a conflict is detected, the transaction is retried. "Pessimistic concurrency control," on the other hand, locks resources to prevent conflicts before they occur, which can improve certainty but may reduce concurrency.
