Tracksordered

Tracksordered is a metadata concept used in music metadata models and digital asset management to indicate whether a collection of tracks has a defined, fixed sequence. It is typically implemented as a boolean flag or as part of an ordering specification within a data structure that describes albums, playlists, or compilations.

When tracksordered is true, the position of each track is meaningful; playback, display, and export operations are expected to preserve the defined order. When tracksordered is false or omitted, the ordering of tracks is not guaranteed, and consumers may surface tracks according to sorting algorithms, user preferences, or randomization.

Common use cases include curated playlists and albums where sequencing matters. In user-generated playlists, tracksordered may be set to true to lock the sequence, whereas certain dynamic or shuffle-focused lists may mark tracksordered as false to reflect non-deterministic order.
