This drive system features a six-pointed star-shaped pattern. The Torx system was invented by Camcar Textron in the 1960s. The name "Torx" is a registered trademark. Screwdrivers designed for this system have a tip that precisely matches the six-pointed recess in the screw head. The exact size of the Torx drive is indicated by a "T" followed by a number, such as T10 or T25. These numbers correspond to specific dimensions of the star pattern.

Torx screwdrivers are commonly found in various applications, including automotive, electronics, and construction. Their ability to withstand higher torque makes them suitable for applications where screws need to be tightened securely. In some industries, Torx Plus, a more advanced version of the Torx drive, is used, offering even greater torque transmission and resistance to cam-out.
