Topsurface

Topsurface is a term used to denote the uppermost or exterior surface of a three-dimensional object or scene. In a given coordinate system, it is usually identified as the surface with the greatest elevation or the surface whose normal aligns most closely with the positive vertical axis. The concept appears across several fields, often serving as a reference for orientation, measurement, and operations.

In computer-aided design, 3D modeling, and rendering, the topsurface is distinguished from other faces of a model to support tasks such as top-down visualization, surface finishing, and collision detection.
