Titanotitan

Titanotitan is a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 97 to 93 million years ago. The genus is known from a single species, Titanotitan atlanticus, which was discovered in the Neuquén Basin of Argentina. The name Titanotitan means "giant Titan," reflecting the large size of the animal. Titanotitan is estimated to have been around 30 meters (98 feet) in length and weighed approximately 20 metric tons (22 tons).

The fossil remains of Titanotitan include a partial skull, vertebrae, and limb bones. The skull is relatively small compared to the body size, with a long, narrow snout. The teeth are small and conical, suggesting a diet of soft plants. The vertebrae are elongated and robust, typical of sauropods. The limb bones are also robust, with long, slender limbs, which is characteristic of the group.

Titanotitan is notable for its large size and the fact that it is one of the few sauropod dinosaurs known from the Late Cretaceous of South America. It is also one of the largest known sauropods from the Late Cretaceous, along with other genera such as Argentinosaurus and Patagotitan. The discovery of Titanotitan provides valuable insights into the diversity and evolution of sauropod dinosaurs during the Late Cretaceous.
