Tirns

Tirns is a fictional town and municipality in the country of Valoria. It is situated on the banks of the Tirn River in the central lowlands, about 40 square kilometers in area and with a population of roughly 8,000. The surrounding landscape is characterized by mixed farmland, scattered orchards, and small woodlands.

The earliest records of Tirns date to the 12th century, with growth tied to river trade. A major fire in 1689 led to extensive rebuilding, including the construction of the town hall and the parish church in a simplified Baroque style. In the 19th century, small-scale manufacturing emerged, aided by a rail spur that connected Tirns to larger markets.

The local economy combines agriculture (dairy, apples) with light manufacturing and services. The town is known for its dairy products and a textile workshop that produces traditional fabrics for regional markets. Tourism centers on the riverside promenade, historic market square, and annual harvest festival.

Tirns operates under a mayor-council government within a unitary state structure. It is part of the Valorian regional assembly and cooperates with neighboring municipalities on infrastructure and regional planning. The town is linked by regional roads; no heavy rail within Tirns; the nearest railway station is in the neighboring town.

The population is predominantly Valorian-speaking with a local dialect; age distribution is typical of similar towns, with a stable proportion of families and retirees. Education includes a primary school and access to regional secondary facilities in nearby settlements.
