Tingujan

Tingujan is a coastal municipality in the fictional province of Serica, Veridia. It lies on a low-lying shoreline along the Serican Gulf and experiences a tropical monsoon climate with a wet season from May to October. The name Tingujan is believed to derive from the local Tinguan language, though the exact origin is uncertain.

Covering about 180 square kilometers, Tingujan had an estimated population of 32,000 in 2020. The municipality is subdivided into 12 barangays and is governed by a mayor and municipal council. Its economy relies on agriculture—rice, coconuts, and root crops—and on small-scale fishing from the coastal waters. In recent years, eco-tourism and local crafts have grown as supplementary sectors.

Historically, Tingujan was established as a settlement in the late colonial period and developed around a river port that facilitated trade with inland communities.

Facilities include two high schools, several elementary schools, and a public library. The Tingujan Festival, held annually in May, celebrates fishing traditions and local crafts.

Landmarks include the Tingujan Lighthouse, St. Gabriel’s Church, and the Riverfront Park. Transportation is served by a regional highway; the nearest airport is about 70 kilometers away. A small harbor handles coastal vessels and ferries.
