Timechanged

Timechanged is a term used in timekeeping and software engineering to denote a change in the value representing time within a system. It describes an event or signal emitted when the tracked time becomes new, prompting observers to react to the update.

In many architectures, timechanged is implemented as an event on a clock, timer, or time source. The event payload often includes the previous time, the new current time, and the elapsed delta between them. Time changes can occur due to natural progression of wall clock time, manual adjustments, or automatic corrections from time synchronization services, such as NTP, or daylight saving time adjustments.

Clients subscribe to timechanged to refresh displays, recalibrate timers, or trigger time-based workflows. The pattern helps decouple time management from application logic, enabling components to respond to time updates without polling the clock.

Naming and platform specifics can vary. Some frameworks expose the event with different capitalization, such as timeChanged, TimeChanged, or timechanged; the core idea remains the same.
