Tillgångsaxlar

Tillgångsaxlar, often translated as asset swaps, are a type of derivative financial instrument. They are primarily used to exchange the cash flows of one asset for the cash flows of another. This exchange is typically based on a notional principal amount and involves a predetermined maturity date. The most common type of tillgångsaxel involves the exchange of fixed interest rate payments for floating interest rate payments, or vice versa.

In a typical interest rate tillgångsaxel, one party agrees to pay a fixed rate of interest on a notional amount, while the other party agrees to pay a floating rate of interest on the same notional amount. The principal amounts are not exchanged, only the interest payments. This allows parties to effectively transform their interest rate exposure.
