It is a scalar quantity, and its units are typically Pascals (Pa) or similar pressure units. For fluids, bulk modulus is particularly important as they are generally less rigid than solids and can be compressed. Water, for instance, has a relatively high bulk modulus, which is why it can transmit pressure waves efficiently.
