Tiivisteline

Tiivisteline, also known as condensation line or condensate drain line, is a crucial component in many HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, particularly in air conditioners and high-efficiency furnaces. Its primary function is to safely remove the moisture that condenses out of the air as the system operates.

During the cooling process, air conditioners dehumidify the air by passing it over cold evaporator coils. As the warm, moist air comes into contact with these coils, water vapor condenses into liquid water. Similarly, high-efficiency furnaces, which extract more heat from combustion gases, produce cooler exhaust gases that can lead to condensation.

The tiivisteline collects this condensed water and directs it away from the indoor unit, typically to an outdoor drain, a floor drain, or a condensate pump. If the tiivisteline becomes clogged with debris, algae, or sediment, the condensed water cannot drain properly. This can lead to several problems, including water overflow, which can cause significant water damage to ceilings, walls, and floors. It can also lead to the shutdown of the HVAC system, as many units are equipped with safety switches that detect high water levels and prevent operation. Regular inspection and cleaning of the tiivisteline are therefore important for maintaining the efficiency and preventing damage to HVAC equipment.
