Thymoglobulin
Thymoglobulin is a brand name for an equine antithymocyte globulin (ATG) preparation. It is a polyclonal antibody derived from horses that have been immunized with human T lymphocytes. Thymoglobulin is used primarily in the management of allograft rejection in patients undergoing organ transplantation, most commonly kidney transplants. It works by depleting T lymphocytes, which are key components of the immune system responsible for initiating and perpetuating the rejection process.
The administration of Thymoglobulin is typically intravenous. It is often used as part of an induction therapy
The dosage and duration of Thymoglobulin therapy are individualized based on the patient's clinical condition, transplant
