Thirteen2s is a Canadian indie rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 2009. The group consists of four members: Alexei Lewis (vocals, guitar), Ben McIvor (guitar, vocals), Matt McCaughan (bass), and Benji Kirkpatrick (drums). The band’s name is derived from the phrase "thirteen twenty-seconds," which represents the time it takes for light to travel from the sun to Earth, symbolizing their connection to cosmic themes and the universe.

Thirteen2s gained prominence through their self-released EP, *The Sun Is a Ball of Fire*, in 2011, which received critical acclaim for its raw energy and melodic songwriting. Their debut album, *The Sun Is a Ball of Fire*, was released in 2012 and further solidified their reputation as a dynamic live act. The band’s music blends elements of indie rock, post-punk revival, and psychedelic influences, characterized by driving rhythms, anthemic choruses, and introspective lyrics.

The group’s second album, *The Sun Is a Ball of Fire (Deluxe Edition)*, expanded their sound with additional tracks and a more polished production. Their third studio album, *The Sun Is a Ball of Fire (Expanded Edition)*, included further reworked versions of their earlier material. Despite their growing popularity, Thirteen2s maintained a low-key approach, focusing on live performances and a dedicated fanbase rather than mainstream commercial success.

In 2016, the band released their first full-length original album, *The Sun Is a Ball of Fire (Reimagined)*, which featured reimagined versions of their songs alongside new material. Their fourth studio album, *The Sun Is a Ball of Fire (Reimagined & Expanded)*, followed in 2017, continuing their experimental approach. Known for their energetic live shows and eclectic stage presence, Thirteen2s has toured extensively across North America and Europe, often collaborating with other indie artists.

Beyond music, the band is recognized for their playful and unconventional branding, including their signature "132s" logo and a cult-like following among fans who appreciate their unique blend of humor, creativity, and musical innovation. While they have not achieved widespread commercial success, their influence within indie rock circles remains notable.
