In this sense, a term does not merely label a thing but signals a broader set of associations, ideologies, or social meanings embedded in discourse.

Although not widely established as a formal theory, termsignifying has appeared in niche analyses of rhetoric, branding, and political communication. The central idea is that certain terms accrue sign value through repetitive use, cultural memory, or strategic positioning, so that their utterance evokes a constellation of ideas rather than a single denotation.
