Termidor

Termidor is a brand of insecticide used primarily for termite control. The active ingredient in Termidor products is fipronil, a phenylpyrazole insecticide. Fipronil works by disrupting the central nervous system of insects. It is applied to the soil around a structure, creating a protective barrier that termites cannot detect and will pass through.

When termites encounter Termidor treated soil, they ingest the insecticide as they tunnel. Termidor's "transfer effect" is a key feature, meaning that termites that come into contact with treated soil or with other exposed termites can transfer the insecticide to other members of the colony. This often leads to the eventual elimination of the entire colony.
