For example, a quiet, well-lit room with comfortable seating can contribute to a sense of calm. Similarly, a therapist who actively listens and validates the client's feelings creates a psychologically safe space. Different therapeutic modalities may require slightly different environmental considerations. Some therapies might benefit from more neutral and sparse settings, while others might incorporate elements that encourage creativity or sensory engagement.

The concept extends beyond traditional therapy rooms. Telehealth, for instance, has introduced virtual therapeutic environments, where the client's home or a private space becomes the primary setting. In these cases, the therapist works to establish a professional and secure virtual connection, ensuring privacy and minimizing distractions for the client.
