Tensupward

Tensupward is a mathematical operation that rounds a numeric value up to the nearest multiple of ten. It is used in data processing, budgeting, and display formatting to simplify numbers or create standardized units.

Definition and behavior: For any real number x, tensupward(x) equals 10 times the ceiling of x divided by 10, written as tensupward(x) = 10 * ceil(x / 10). This guarantees the result is the smallest multiple of ten that is greater than or equal to x. If x is already a multiple of ten, tensupward(x) returns x itself. In negative values, the operation still rounds upward toward positive infinity, resulting in a larger or equal multiple of ten.

Examples: tensupward(23) = 30, tensupward(-7) = 0, tensupward(40) = 40. These illustrate the consistent “round up to the next ten” behavior across positive and negative inputs.

Relation to related operations: Tensupward is the counterpart to tensdownward, which rounds down to the nearest multiple of ten using floor(x / 10) * 10.
