Teleonomie
Teleonomie is a concept in biology describing the apparent goal-directedness or purposeful organization of biological systems that arises not from conscious intention but from natural processes such as evolution by natural selection. The term distinguishes the functional ends observed in organisms from the metaphysical notion of teleology. Under teleonomy, traits, behaviors, and developmental patterns are understood as outcomes of historical selection pressures and constraints that favor fitness in given environments, rather than outcomes of foresight or plan.
