Tejo

Tejo is the Portuguese name for the Tagus, one of the major rivers of the Iberian Peninsula and its longest. The Tagus runs roughly 1,000 kilometers, with a drainage basin near 80,000 square kilometers. It rises in the eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula and flows generally westward through Spain and Portugal before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean at Lisbon. Tejo also refers to a traditional Colombian sport, commonly known as tejo or juego del tejo. It is played by throwing a heavy metal disk at a clay target positioned at one end of a dirt or clay court. The target often contains a small amount of explosive material that detonates on impact, producing a distinctive bang.
