Tehosäätimet

Tehosäätimet, often translated as power regulators or power controllers, are electronic devices used to control the amount of electrical power delivered to a load. They achieve this by varying the voltage, current, or both supplied to the device. This allows for precise adjustment of the output, from full power down to zero or a specific intermediate level.

Common types of tehosäätimet include phase control dimmers, which are widely used for lighting control, and pulse-width modulation (PWM) controllers, often found in motor speed control and LED lighting. Phase control works by switching the power on and off very rapidly, in sync with the AC waveform, and controlling how much of each waveform is delivered to the load. PWM, on the other hand, rapidly switches the power on and off at a fixed frequency, varying the duty cycle (the ratio of 'on' time to the total cycle time) to control the average power delivered.

The primary purpose of a tehosäädin is to optimize energy consumption, enhance performance, and provide user control over the operation of electrical devices. For instance, dimming lights reduces electricity usage and extends bulb life. Adjusting motor speed can improve efficiency and reduce noise.
