Tavanna

Tavanna is a fictional coastal city and regional capital in the eastern part of the country of Aridia. With a population around 120,000, it functions as a commercial hub and administrative center for the Tavanni province. The city’s origins lie in medieval Tavanni trading posts established along a sheltered harbor, and it grew through maritime traffic, dockyards, and provincial administration. It expanded significantly during the 18th and 19th centuries and adopted modern institutions in the 20th century.

Tavanna sits on a natural harbor along the Aridian coast. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers, moderated by onshore and sea breezes. The economy centers on the port, which handles containerized and bulk cargo, along with fishing and seafood processing. Light manufacturing, logistics, and services—especially education and research—also contribute to employment. The city is served by an international airport nearby, and is connected by rail and highways to major urban centers.

The population is multiethnic and multilingual, with Tavanni and Aridian as common languages. Cultural life centers on the harbor and university districts, with markets, theaters, and museums.
