Taustaporaa

Taustaporaa is a Finnish term that translates to "background drill" or "background boring." It refers to a method of subsurface drilling that is primarily used for creating a hole without removing the material from within the borehole itself. This is in contrast to conventional drilling techniques where the removed material, or cuttings, is brought to the surface. The purpose of taustaporaa is typically to create a conduit or pathway through the ground for subsequent operations, such as pipe pulling or insertion.
