Tauchbehälter

A Tauchbehälter, often translated as dive tank or diving cylinder, is a portable container used to store and transport compressed gas, most commonly air, for breathing underwater. These tanks are an essential piece of equipment for scuba divers and other underwater professionals. The gas inside is typically at a high pressure, significantly greater than atmospheric pressure, allowing for a sufficient supply of breathable air to sustain a diver for an extended period.

Tauchbehälter are constructed from robust materials such as aluminum or steel to withstand the high internal pressures and the external forces encountered during dives. They are equipped with a valve at the top, which regulates the flow of gas from the tank to the diver's breathing apparatus. This valve is connected to a regulator, a complex device that reduces the high pressure of the gas in the tank to a breathable pressure that the diver can inhale.

The capacity of a Tauchbehälter is measured in liters and the pressure is measured in bars or psi. Common tank sizes for recreational diving range from 10 to 15 liters, with fill pressures often around 200 bar (2900 psi). The duration a diver can spend underwater is dependent on the tank's capacity, the pressure it's filled to, and the diver's breathing rate, which in turn is influenced by depth, exertion, and stress. Regular inspection and hydrostatic testing are crucial to ensure the safety and integrity of Tauchbehälter.
