Tasuki
A tasuki is a narrow band of cloth, typically about one yard long and a few inches wide, traditionally worn by men in Japan. It is usually made of cotton or silk. The tasuki is worn diagonally across the back, from one shoulder to the opposite hip, with the ends tied at the front. This garment served a practical purpose, primarily to hold the sleeves of a kimono or other loose-fitting garments out of the way. This was especially useful for manual labor, such as farming or fighting, as it prevented the sleeves from becoming snagged or soiled.
