Tarragindi

Tarragindi is a residential suburb located in the inner south of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is situated approximately 8 kilometers south of the Brisbane central business district. The suburb is primarily composed of detached houses, with some higher-density housing present in certain areas.

The name Tarragindi is believed to be derived from the Yugambeh Aboriginal language, with interpretations varying. One common explanation suggests it means "place of the whistling kite" or "place of the eagle hawk." The area was originally part of the pastoral district of Mount Gravatt.

Tarragindi's development accelerated in the post-World War II era, with significant housing construction occurring during the 1950s and 1960s. The suburb is well-served by public transport, including bus routes connecting it to the city and surrounding areas. Tarragindi railway station also provides a rail link.

The suburb features several parks and recreational areas, such as Tarragindi Recreation Reserve and Toohey Forest Park, which offers extensive walking trails and natural bushland.
