Tappiliitäntä

Tappiliitäntä, also known as a mortise and tenon joint, is a woodworking joint that joins two pieces of wood. The mortise is a rectangular hole or slot cut into one piece of wood, and the tenon is a projection or tongue cut from the end of the other piece of wood. The tenon is designed to fit snugly into the mortise. This joint is one of the oldest and strongest methods of joining wood and has been used for centuries in furniture making, construction, and other woodworking applications.

Common types include through mortise and tenon, blind mortise and tenon, and haunched mortise and tenon.
