Tanulásiértékelési, a Hungarian term, translates to "learning assessment" or "assessment for learning." It refers to the process of gathering information about a student's learning throughout the educational process, not just at the end of a unit or course. The primary purpose of this type of assessment is to inform and improve teaching and learning.

Unlike summative assessment, which typically evaluates what a student has learned at a specific point in time, learning assessment is formative. It provides ongoing feedback to both students and educators. For students, this feedback helps them understand their strengths and weaknesses, identify areas where they need more support, and take ownership of their learning journey.
