Tanikely

Tanikely is a small island off the northwest coast of Madagascar, part of the Nosy Be archipelago in the Diana Region. The island lies within a protected marine area known as Tanikely National Park, which has been established to conserve its coral reefs and marine habitats.

It is a low-lying island surrounded by fringing coral reefs and shallow bays. The surrounding waters are clear, making the site popular for snorkeling and day trips from nearby towns.

The park protects extensive coral reefs, seagrass beds, and associated marine life. Visitors commonly encounter reef fish, sea turtles, and invertebrates typical of Malagasy coral reef ecosystems.

Tanikely National Park is administered by Madagascar National Parks in cooperation with local communities. The area is protected from most forms of fishing and collection, and tourism activities are regulated to minimize environmental impact.

The island is reachable by boat from Nosy Be and other nearby ports; day trips and snorkeling excursions are common. The best snorkeling conditions are usually during the dry season, with calmer seas from May to October.
