Talousdomen is a hypothetical framework in economic policy design that envisions a centralized, rule-based governance layer, referred to as the Dome, coordinating monetary, fiscal, and social measures within a defined policy envelope. The concept combines elements of macroeconomic stabilization with algorithmic policy guidance and is discussed mainly in theoretical or speculative contexts rather than as an implemented system. The term draws on the Finnish roots of talous, meaning economy, and the metaphor of a dome that encloses and steadies activity under transparent rules.

In proposed models, the Dome collects real-time data across sectors and applies predefined rules to adjust variables such as public investment, tax parameters, subsidies, debt limits, and central-bank instruments. Changes are communicated through a public dashboard and, in some variants, implemented automatically within constitutional or legal safeguards, with human oversight for ethical and constitutional compliance. Supporters argue that Taloudomen could reduce policy lag, enhance stability, and improve coordination across institutions by making goals explicit and verifiable.

Critics caution that algorithmic governance risks overfitting to short-run indicators, reduces political accountability, and depends on data quality and transparent rule design. They also warn of potential systemic risk if the Dome malfunctions or is captured by vested interests.
