Talorc
Talorc is recorded as a Christian missionary and saint of the early Middle Ages, whose activities are chiefly associated with the western Scottish Highlands. Contemporary contemporary documents are scarce; references to Talorc appear only in a handful of later medieval hagiographical collections and in local parish chronicles. The earliest accounts describe him as a Pictish monk who travelled from the abbey at Lindores in Fife to the island of Coll, where he is said to have established a monastic cell and preached to the local population. He is sometimes identified with the saint known as Taloc or Talorc in Scottish Gaelic tradition, and the name is linked to a number of place‑names, such as the village of St. Talorc’s and the well that bears his cultic title in the parish of Coll.
